Both gone into administration. Absolutely gutted. That’s the entire video game industry for the high street gone. And before you correct me, HMV doesn’t count. If it isn’t “Call of Fifa Battlefield Theft Auto” they’re not bothered.
Gonna really miss Gamestation. All the dudes in there were a really cool bunch and actually knew their shit about games. Awesome selection of games and had no problem ordering something in if they didn’t have it. My heart really goes out to them, and all the others across the country who have lost their jobs.
But to be honest, neither store really helped themselves. They were so stubborn with their prices. All new games were £40. End of discussion. Didn’t matter what game it was, it was £40. Some games even more expensive. Call of Duty and Battlefield (to name a few) were being sold at prices like £44.99! Who were they kidding?! With other places selling them for £5 cheaper (sometimes even cheaper than that), they just weren’t competitive enough. Remember when Gamestation had that week of selling Skyrim for £20? Imagine the money they would have made that week. If they’d have made their prices a little more competitive, I feel we’d still have those stores open to us.
I really hope someone buys them. I’ve heard many things floating around like Richard Branson is interested in making Virgin Games, or Comet is gonna buy them. I dunno. Nothing’s set in stone. But the bottom line is, thousands of people are out of jobs, and that’s never good.
Plus, I’m gonna see what shit I can pick up for stupidly cheap
So annoying. I type ‘Clutch’ into the search tags things to find shit relating to one of the greatest bands of all time, and all I get is fucking handbags.
Day of airsofting. I’m knackered. Plus it made a massive dent in my wallet. Hardly got any money for TUI or Stray From The Path now. Wounded.
